APICS Atlanta Employment and Recruitment Coordinator

They're the amusing "war stories" of your APICS Recruitment Coordinator, and they usually begin something like this: "We actually had an applicant come in who... The rest of the statement usually has something to do with the interviewee's mode of dress, style of speech or sheer audacity.
One thing is certain; however, these job candidates are the stuff of staffing legend. When most people interview, they try very hard to dress and act in a way that fits the corporate culture. But, that's sometimes easier said than done for some folks who seem to make their own rules when it comes to interviewing.
What are some of those tales of interview infamy?
The Old Soft Shoe
A middle management candidate arrived for an interview in a well-tailored business suit - and sneakers. Why? Well, he said, when he was more comfortable, he was more productive. Wouldn't they appreciate his commitment to productivity?
Driving Ahead
Blaming traffic problems, a woman was a full hour late for her interview. When the interviewer graciously offered to reschedule, she became insistent. "I'm here now," she said. "I don't want to have to go through that awful traffic again." On second thought, the interviewer politely informed her that rescheduling the interview wouldn't be necessary.
Sticky Situation
A young woman was chewing on a big wad of gum when she arrived for a skills assessment. When the interviewer suggested she lose the gum, the young woman calmly stuck the gum to the bottom of her chair and launched into the test.
Show Me The...
After sitting down for his interview, one candidate wasted no time by asking the interviewer exactly how much money he would be making. "What really amazed me about this one", noted the interviewer, "was that he then proceeded to tell me that money wasn't his main concern in finding a new job!"
No Hits, One Error
Maybe the young man thought he was just being charming when he asked out the "secretary" who ushered him into the conference room for his interview. Imagine his surprise when he discovered that she wasn't a secretary at all: she was the hiring official!
Mistaken Identity
Getting names wrong can happen, but how's this possibly unforgivable faux pas? After being called the wrong name for the third time by an applicant, the interviewer just had to speak up. After all, he was none other than the company owner - and his name was the company name.
Making an Impression
In the course of her interview, one young woman managed to spill her coffee, knock a sheaf of papers off the interviewer's desk, and drop her fountain pen, spilling ink on the carpet. The position she sought? Clean room lab technician.
